We believe independent takeaways deserve better than handing up to a third of every order to a delivery app.
The problem we're solving
Scotland's takeaways are the backbone of our high streets. Family-run chippies, curry houses, pizza shops — they've been feeding communities for generations.
Then the delivery platforms arrived. Just Eat, Deliveroo, Uber Eats — they promised more customers, but the price was steep. Depending on the deal, their commission takes up to 30% of the order. On a £12 fish supper at that rate, £3.60 goes straight off the top. Multiply that across hundreds of orders a month, and it's the difference between a thriving business and barely breaking even.
Worse, the platforms own the customer relationship. Your regulars become their users. Your data becomes their data. Your brand becomes a listing on their app.
We built Klide because we think there's a better way. Your customers already have WhatsApp — so that's where Klide takes the order. An AI that understands Scottish dialect, handles the back-and-forth about sizes and sauces, and sends the order straight to your kitchen printer. You pay a flat monthly fee and a small per-order commission instead of a double-digit cut, and you keep your customers, your data, and your profits. Klide Voice — the same thing over a phone call — is in development and not live yet.
Why Scotland first
We're not building a generic AI order bot and hoping it works everywhere. We started with Scotland because we know Scotland.
Our AI understands that a “supper” comes with chips. That a “poke” is a bag of chips, not a Facebook feature. That Edinburgh has “salt and sauce” while Glasgow has “salt and vinegar.” That a “pizza crunch” is deep-fried pizza and it's magnificent.
We're onboarding our first Glasgow takeaways now, and we'll name them here once they're live. From there we expand across Scotland. Once we've proven the model here, we'll take it further. But Scotland comes first.
